Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.”
Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The Immaculate Conception as defined in the ‘Ineffebilis Deus.’
“The doctrine which holds that the most Blessed Virgin Mary, in the first instance of conception, by singular and privilege granted by Almighty God, because of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the human race, was preserved free from all stain of original sins, is a doctrine revealed by God and therefore yo be believed firmly and constantly by all the faithful.”
We celebrated the Conception of Jesus Christ on March 25, the Solemnity of the Annunciation. Exactly nine months later, we celebrate the Solemnity of Christ’s Nativity (December 25).
We celebrate the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary on December 8th. Exactly nine months later, we celebrate the birth of Mary (September 8).
The Feast of the Immaculate Conception does not pertain to the Nativity (birth) of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
It neither pertains to Jesus’ conception in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The Feast of the Immaculate Conception pertains to the conception of the Virgin Mary in the womb of St. Anne, wherein she (Mary) was preserved exempt from all stain of original sin by God’s grace given the merits of Jesus Christ.
“O Mary, Conceived without sin, Pray for us who have recourse to thee.”
