Novena to Jesus of Nazareth
(To make this Novena, if possible, recite the following prayers in a Church, or before an image of Jesus of Nazareth. Try to go to at least one Confession and frequent communion during the course of nine consecutive days or each day if done on nine consecutive Fridays.)
THE SIGN OF THE CROSS
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
ACT OF CONTRITION
Iriga City, Philippines
O Jesus Christ, my Lord, true God, and true Man, my great Redeemer; with the sublime love which You did profess for humankind, and for which You did suffer humiliations and experience all sorts of trials and tribulations since Your capture by the soldiers led by Judas Iscariot, and during Your painful journey to Calvary; walking with a heavy cross on Your shoulders, as a penitent creature of God, I should appreciate Your supreme sacrifice; Your death on the cross to redeem the world and hereby promise to love You ever more.
Referring to You, St. John said, “Greater love has no man than this that He lay down His life for His friends.”
In as much as I love you above all things, I repent with all my heart and soul for having committed sins against You. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your Grace to sin no more and to avoid the occasions of sin. So help me, I beseech You Jesus Christ, to do penance, and give me courage to follow You in Your dolorous way of the Cross
Ninth Day or Ninth Friday
At last, Jesus Christ reach the end of the painful journey to Calvary. The brutal soldiers stretch Him on the Cross. They nailed His hands and feet. His blood flowed to the ground. He died with anguish on the gibber. Thus, Christ offered to His Father of His death for the salvation of mankind.
Meditation
Let us go back to the physical pains and sufferings of Jesus Christ before and during His dolorous journey (Via Crucis) to Calvary. As we call them to mind, let us inquire why He should have allowed maltreatment by the brutal soldiers, and suffered so much torment from their hands, including His exposure to heat of the mid-day sun for several hours? Why?
In the meantime, Christ uttered these words the Cross, before expiring: “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”
Resolution for the Day
On this day, I will kneel before my Crucified Savior and request Him to keep me always under His care. On my part, I will promise to serve Him faithfully and comply with the Ten Commandments.
Prayer
O Jesus Christ, engrave in my heart the lesson and the things that I need most for my life that will please You always. May the Crucifix by my guide in my daily task and keep myself close to it to remind me of Your sufferings and let it be my preacher, teacher, and friend, to avoid the commission of sins. Grant me grace to love and serve You always to the last breath of my life. Help me keep my vow never to offend You again.

CONCLUDING PRAYER
O Almighty God, who have appointed Your only begotten Son the Savior of the World; many times I have improperly abandoned You, but after duly repenting for having offended You, now on my knees I come to offer You to say that I adore You with all fervor and devotion. So please forgive me for my sins and omissions; and grant me grace, I beseech You, my omnipotent God, so that I may enjoy the blessing and Glory of Heaven where Your Son Jesus live and reign with You in unity of the Holy spirit, world without end. Amen

Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with you, among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

CONCLUDING PRAYER
O MY SOUL, GREAT TRUTH; YOUR SALVATION MUST BE A MOST IMPORTANT AFFAIR; IF THE SON OF GOD HAD TO DIE TO THE CROSS FOR IT; AND IF THE MOST INNOCENT JESUS WAS THUS SCOURGED FOR THE SINS OF OTHERS, WHAT WILL BE THE PUNISHMENT IN HELL FOR OUR SIN, SO NUMEROUS AND COMMITTED WITH MALICE? O JESUS CRUCIFIED, BE MY SALVATION.
O MARY, MOTHER OF THE DIVINE REDEEMER, HOW GREAT IS THE GOODNESS OF JESUS TOWARD US, AND WE UNGRATEFUL FOR SUCH GOODNESS HAVE NOT ONLY SHOWN HIM LITTLE LOVE IN RETURN, BUT HAVE ALSO OFTEN TIME REOPENED HIS WOUNDS. PRAY FOR US THAT WE MAY DESPISE SUCH INGRATITUDE. OUR DEAREST MOTHER MARY, HELP OF CHRISTIANS, HELP ME TO KEEP MY RESOLUTIONS I HAVE MADE DURING THIS MEDITATION; HELP US TO LIVE AS GOOD AND FAITHFUL CATHOLICS, AS A DEVOUR CHILD OF YOU, HELP ME TO AVOID OFFENDING YOU DIVINE SON, HELP ME TO HAVE A HAPPY DEATH; HELP ME OH MARY, TO SAVE MY SOUL SO THAT I MAY BE HAPPY WITH JESUS CHRIST FOREVER.
